There are several devastating conflicts that happen in this myth, and most of them to my poor, tortured self. The first I would like to mention is the fact that I looked like a fool in front of my dear "brother" Odin.
Next is that I had the choice to either hand Idunn over to the Frost Giants or suffer a painful, agonising, and horrid death that would ultimately end very badly for both parties. You can probably guess what I chose.
Lastly there is the problem of the Aesir ageing due to the Goddess of Youth leaving Asgard. They were growing old and yet again I had to make a choice. Save Idunn and maybe suffer a horrible death by the hands of Thiassi the giant, but if I survived I would go back and live the rest of the days that they don't have use of me in a cage, or refuse to save her and suffer a horrible death by the hands of the elderly Aesir. That is, if their backs didn't give out before catching me.
Are you picturing me smiling? Well, let me tell you, Mortal, you would be spot on.

ReplyDeleteHello Loki! First off I am sorry to be regarding you concerning your conflicts but I must ask, what choice did you go with in your 3rd conflict? Both seem horrific to me, hard decisions...hard decisions.
ReplyDeleteWell, considering that I figured there would be a slight chance of my survival through the "saving the day" door, I chose that. I wanted to stay on Odin's good side as long as convenient.
